Housing Advice and Preventing Homelessness

We are all committed to preventing homelessness wherever possible and we will make every effort to keep you in your home if you are at risk of losing it. Where this is not possible, we will work with you to help you find a suitable alternative.

We can offer you advice on a number of issues such as:

• Your rights and responsibilities.

• Rent and mortgage arrears.

• Resolving disputes with friends or family members with whom you are currently living and have asked you to leave.

• Active on landlord matters such as disputes, disrepair, illegal eviction and harassment.

• When you have been served with a notice to vacate accommodation, the possession procedures that must be taken by a landlord or lender.

• Domestic violence and refuge accommodation.

• Supported housing projects and hotels.

• Mutual exchange and the Housing Needs Register

• Private renting

• Low cost home ownership

The housing advice service is free and you can access this by contacting your local council.
